Gettin Trashy: waste management at UMD
UMD student working on the trash audit 2009.A video documentary was recently released examining waste management on the UMD campus.  UMD students Autumn Juetten, Drew Martin, and Bryanna Raiche sorted through heaps of information on the types of waste produced on campus, the effectiveness of  campus recycling, and how campus trash is processed and landfilled.  The students identified a needed paradigm shift and the importance of individual action to improve the sustainability of our waste and recycling management.

Through solid research (including an Earth Day campus trash audit), stylish editing, and positive messages, the film is fun to view.  Just don't be surprised if you find yourself humming and singing along to "We gotta reduce, reuse, recycle..."
